Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok was my first experience in an asian city and it was everything I expected it to be; busy, crowded, and a bit of a culture shock. There were aggressive massage parlors offering happy endings on every block, delicious smelling street food vendors, and a whole lot of traffic.
When flying internationally to Thailand, Bangkok will most likely be your point of arrival. Though it wasn't really high on our list of things to see in Thailand, we were glad we got a chance to explore the city. We ate at a restaurant covered in condoms for a good cause, sampled pad thai at every street food vendor we passed and experienced a Thai massage on the famous backpacking street, Khao San Road. We had a great time walking through the markets looking at souvenirs and knockoffs. After a few short days in Bangkok, our jet lag had subsided and we were off to Chiang Mai!
