Norway in a Nutshell
Norway was the first country Frank and I visited together. It started off as a guy's trip with Frank and his friend Ryan, but I have a way of inserting myself into situations. The three of us met in Oslo to start our week long journey through Norway. Norway, like all Scandinavian countries, is clean, cold, and very expensive, but the scenery is unlike anything I've seen before. From Oslo, we traveled west by train toward the small town of Flåm. We spent the night in an Airbnb with the fjords right outside our window.
The next day, we had my favorite breakfast of Risifrutti (rice pudding with fruit on top) in the garden before heading to our boat that would take us through the fjords. Getting to the boat proved to be a little difficult but we managed. We ended the day in Bergen.
Bergen is a large city with a small town feel on the west coast of Norway. The charm of this city is unlike any other. We wandered the narrow streets, tasted whale at the fish market, had wine in a cafe on the water, and climbed to the tallest viewpoint.
The night before we were supposed to leave Bergen, we decided to change our plans a bit. We found a super cheap flight to Copenhagen that left at 6am the next day (thank you Ryanair!) and decided to book it, 9 hours before the flight departed. It was actually cheaper to fly to Copenhagen for the day and take an overnight cruise back to Oslo than to fly or take a train directly there. So we did it!
